Telangana: Only 77.52% candidates appear for EAMCET on first day

HYDERABAD: There is a huge decline in the number of students appearing for the Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture & Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) exam this year as only 77.52% of candidates appeared for the test this year, when compared with about 90% attendance every year.

While 7,415 (86.20%) out of 8,602 registered candidates appeared for the test on the very first day of the engineering stream examination in 79 centers in Telangana, only 6,365 (69.98%) out of 9,227 registered candidates appeared for the test in 23 centers in In Andhra Pradesh in the forenoon session. When it comes to the afternoon session, 7,140 (84.98%) out of 8,401 registered candidates appeared for the test in Telangana and 6,769 (71.37%) out of 9,484 registered candidates appeared in AP

“In Telangana, the attendance is more or less on par with every year’s attendance as 85.59% of total registered candidates appeared for the exam. However, in AP, there is a decline of about 15% in overall attendance. This could be because students are looking to join in local colleges in the state due to the pandemic,” said A Govardhan, Convener, TS EAMCET adding that another reason for the low attendance in the AP state might be because AP EAMCET will be held shortly.

EAMCET will be held in 102 centers in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for another three days– on September 10, 11, and 14.
