With just a day before JEE is scheduled (September 1) to take place, students are stressed if exams will be conducted or deferred even as India continues to register the highest single day Covid-19 cases in the world for the past few days. Ahmedabad Mirror decided to find out from the students appearing for JEE and NEET themselves what they wanted.
Mirror conducted a survey among students across the state. The participants were asked six questions (see box). As many as 616 students from over 60 schools in the state participated in the survey. Of these, 341 students said JEE/NEET should be postponed, while 275 students said that it should be held. This means 55.36 per cent students were not in favour of the exams to be held right now, while 44.64 per cent would like it to happen as scheduled.
The survey was conducted online for two days, with 365 of the participating students (an estimated 59.25%) set to appear for JEE and 251 or 40.75% set to appear for NEET. JEE starts on September 1 and will continue till September 6, while NEET is scheduled for September 13.
