APECET results 2020: Over 96% get past Covid-19 hurdle to clear test

VIJAYAWADA: Education minister Adimulapu Suresh declared the Andhra Pradesh Engineering Common Entrance Test (APECET) results here on Tuesday. Braving the pandemic, over 96% aspirants cleared the examination. The Jawaharlal Nehru Technical University (JNTU), Anantapur had conducted the examination on September 14.

The entrance was exam was held in two shifts across 79 centres in the state via the online mode. A total of 31,891 candidates had appeared for the examination of which 30,645 candidates — 25,160 men; 6,713 women — cleared the examination. G Vamshi Krishna from Gorthi in Anantapur district achieved first rank in agriculture engineering while S Srinivasa Rao from Srikakulam stood first in the BSc Mathematics branch.

The education minister appreciated the efforts of his department and the Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE) for conducting the entrances in a fair and transparent manner despite the current pandemic. “We initially received poor response from candidates over the CETs. But we have successfully conducted the exams while following Covid-19 protocols. Candidates were happy with the arrangements at exam centres. We are looking forward to complete the academic year successfully through online classes this year,” Suresh said.

The counselling process for CET examinations will commence soon through the online mode and aspirants have been asked to prepare for it. Meanwhile, the AP Eamcet results will be declared on October 9.
