Chandigarh child rights commission identifies 6000 students who need internet/mobile

Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) has invited Chandigarh residents to come forward and support children’s education by helping them with data connections and mobile phones. Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) estimated that at least 6000 students in Chandigarh remain cut off from education, mainly due to lack of equipment needed for learning at home.

CCPCR also facilitated CCPCR felicitated Sonu Sood, Bollywood Actor, Karan Gilhotra, Philanthropist and Narinder Singh (SHO, PS – 26). They were awarded certificates of appreciation for their invaluable and generous contribution towards child rights.

The initiative is undertaken by Niti Mohan, Consultant CCPCR and Chanchal Singh, RTE Consultant. During the program, Commission appealed to the society including organizations and individuals to come forward and support the initiative by donating (New/ Second Hand) smartphones/laptops/computers.

On the occasion, Narinder Singh, SHO, PS-26, Chandigarh donated 100 shoes, and Pooja Punchhi, Member, CCPCR in her individual capacity donated 100 slippers for the children of Child Care Institutes.

Pooja Punchhi said, “Never before have so many children been out of school at the same time, disrupting learning and upending lives, especially the most vulnerable and marginalized. And therefore CCPCR intends to make efforts in working with the community to support children who have been impacted due to COVID-19”.

Narinder Singh asked children to stay away from crime and the menace of drugs. Karan Gilhotra ensured that he is always ready to extend a helping hand for the children in need.

Seema Rani, Principal, Government Model School, Dhanas thanked Gilhotra for the irreplaceable help and said that he and Sonu Sood are nothing less than Messiahs for the students of her school. And applauded efforts by Narinder Singh for the welfare of Children.
