DAVV set to begin first phase of UIMS by October end

INDORE: Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) is set to begin with the implementation of first phase of the University Integrated Management system (UIMS) latest by fourth week of October. This will begin as a pilot project as testing of phase one has already been completed.

The target is to ensure complete centralized automation which will help in getting all the information in a single click for students, employees, or institutions, said the head of computer centre, DAVV, Dr Niranjan Shrivastav, who is also a nodal officer from DAVV for this project.

As one of the main aims is to benefit the students, the students information system (SIS) will be done as a part of the first phase. The registration of the new batch of students will begin as they take admission in the varsity, he added.

After all the information of students is filled, a unique identification number will be generated which will be extremely useful for the candidates as all the information will be attached with the number and it will be valid across Madhya Pradesh.

As a part of the first phase, the data of affiliated colleges, and the results will be put up through this system, he added.

Only the student and the authorities will be able to see all the information with the help of the unique identity number. However, others will not be able to access the information, he added.

The students will be able to apply for their documents as well. The varsity is trying to ensure that the digital version of documents is given for free. “Whether the documents are mark sheet or any certificate, we are trying not to charge money for digital ones. In case they request for physical documents, they will have to pay the set by the varsity,” said Shrivastav.

The next phase will be administration, establishment, stores, hostel management will come step by step.

In the second phase, the process of a unified syllabus is also in the loop.

While the final dates haven’t been given by the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV) which happens to be the nodal centre of the system, however, the implementation will take place by this month itself, said Shrivastav.
