Dr Renu Jain to continue as vice-chancellor of DAVV

INDORE: Dr Renu Jain will continue her term as vice-chancellor of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) for the next four years.

The order dated September 28 stated that as per Section 13 of Madhya Pradesh Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam-1973 with the power given to the chancellor of DAVV (governor of Madhya Pradesh) Anandiben Patel, Jain has been appointed as VC for the next four years from the date of taking the charge.

Raj Bhawan PRO, Ajay Verma has confirmed the news stating that the order has been issued by Patel.

Around 20 eligible candidates underwent interview at Raj Bhawan on September 26 and as Jain is down due to Covid 19, she gave a virtual interview.

Jain, the first woman vice-chancellor of DAVV, was appointed on June 24 after the state government had clamped Section 52 of Madhya Pradesh Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam-1973 which had led to ouster of the then vice-chancellor Dr NK Dhakad due to Common Entrance Test (CET) fiasco.

While Jain was appointed for one year and the government had a choice to give a maximum of two extensions for a period one year each to Jain without lifting Section 52, the government lifted Section 52 and gave a nod to Raj Bhawan for appointment of a permanent VC.

Jain will now continue the tenure for half a decade.
