JIPMER exam: Jipmer not to hold separate entrance exam for MBBS admission

PUDUCHERRY: The admission into the MBBS programme for the academic session 2020 in Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer) at Puducherry and Karaikal campuses will be based on the National eligibility cum entrance test (Neet) 2020 score, said Jipmer dean (academic) in a notice issued on Monday.

Hitherto Jipmer conducted entrance examinations separately for selecting candidates for admission into MBBS programme separately until last year

The medical counselling committee (MCC), Directorate general of health services, Union health and family welfare ministry will hold counselling process to select candidates for MBBS admission based on their Neet score.

Jipmer, Puducherry will not conduct any separate Jipmer MBBS entrance examination or counselling process for admission to the MBBS course in its Puducherry and Karaikal campuses from the year 2020 session. The dean instructed the candidates to visit www.mcc.nic.in for more information.

Jipmer offers 200 MBBS seats (150 in Puducherry campus and 50 in the Karaikal campus). Fifty-four seats are reserved exclusively for candidates from the Union Territory of Puducherry. Six seats are reserved for the overseas citizen of India (OCI)/non-resident Indians (NRI) (under-self-financing scheme).
