To make sure that students are kept engaged, school education department has come up with a weekly plan of activities for the lockdown period.
The department has bifurcated students in two groups – Class VI to VIII and Class IX to XII. “Weekly activity calendar will begin from last week of May and continue till June 20 during the summer vacation. The activities will be a state level competition and the best ones will be compiled in the state level magazine, which will be highly motivational for all,” additional district project coordinator Narendra Jain told TOI.
In the first week, students of Class VI to VIII will have to write their experiences in 100-150 words, while Class IX to XII kids will write in 200-250 words. The students divided in two groups will have to seek help of their family members for these activities, he added.
In the second week, students will have to seek experience of their grandparents – maternal or paternal or elderly during their era- it could be a pandemic or some national disaster or some major tragedy and the way society at that point in time endured the difficulties.
The third week activity will require involvement of parents as in the way parents encourage their children during this pandemic to learn and get involved in studies in unconventional ways because of the present situation.
In the fourth week, students will have to write about any new hobby, activity or skill that they have learnt during this lockdown and attach their own picture doing that activity.
The department has kept a separate state level competition for government schoolteachers as well. In the fifth week, government school teachers will have to share educational innovation that they did during this period to motivate students or help them in studies.
The teachers will have to write in their own hand writing on an A4 size paper. Teachers will have to mention their names and details along with their write-up, said Jain.
