A total of 30,245 candidates applied for the first test conducted on August 29, 2020 out of which 22,843 aspirants appeared.
This year, in view of the COVID-19 situation, NATA was conducted as a comprehensive online aptitude test with both components – Part-A (Cognitive skills for Drawing and Visual Composition Test) and Part-B (Test on Scientific Ability and General Aptitude) to be answered on PC/ Laptop. The candidates were provided option to appear for NATA 2020 either from their residence as Home Based Test candidate (HBT) or from one of the 218 test centres. The HBT mode, for which 9,598 opted for, was introduced by the Council for the first time as an online proctored examination using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.
According to a statement from the CoA, “The Council on receipt of representations about poor connectivity, network and power issues faced by HBT as well as centre based candidates after sympathetic consideration of the matter, decided to allow retest for the genuine cases (without any fees) as a onetime measure.”
It also added that in case aspirants who could not appear for the first test or want to improve their scores, can apply for the second test scheduled for September 12, 2020. The last date of registration for second test of NATA 2020 is September 6 till 12 noon.
“A total of 357 HBT candidates were prima facie found to be using unfair means and their results have been withheld until further notice,” said Habeeb Khan, president, CoA.
NATA is a national level examination for admission to undergraduate courses in architecture.
