neet cut off 2020: NEET cut-off 2020 will be higher: Expert

NAGPUR: Now that NEET exam and
result dates have been officially announced, the anxiousness among candidates and coaching classes has ended. As per the submission in Supreme Court on Monday, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the exam on Wednesday for those who were unable to appear for it last month.
The combined NEET results will be declared on October 16.

A Nagpur candidate who missed out on the exam told TOI that he has got intimation from the NTA about the exam. “I have received an e-mail from NTA confirming that I am eligible to appear for the exam on Wednesday. A new admit card will be available for download on Tuesday,” the candidate said. The candidate shared a screenshot of the email from NTA which also mentioned the exam timings of 2pm-5pm.

There was a frenzy on Monday morning among students who had appeared for NEET in September. Many media outlets and portals reported that results are going to be declared by afternoon. Coaching classes officials and parents were eagerly checking the status online.

TOI was the first to put at rest to these rumours by categorically tweeting that NEET results won’t be declared on Monday. Much later, the news from Supreme Court came that results will be declared on Friday.

Sameer Phale, a senior medical entrance exam teacher, said that cutoffs will rise sharply this year. “This batch got over six extra months to prepare. There are many focused kids who got down to business and kept sharpening their exam concepts. It will be that segment of students who will push the cutoffs higher,” he said.

NEET was conducted on September 13 but many with Covid-19 symptoms or residing in containment zones could not appear for it. The October 14 test is being held for them.

These students had to submit health certificates to prove that they are not Covid positive any more. In September, around 13 lakh students had appeared for the test.
