Revised SOP issued for conducting examinations to contain spread of Covid-19

NEW DELHI: Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India has released the revised SOP (standard operating procedure) on preventive measures to be followed while conducting examinations to contain the spread of Covid-19.

As the examination centres are being frequented by large number of students (as well as their parents) and staff till the entire duration of the exam and therefore, the ministry has released the revised SOP for the conduct of the examination.

As per the revised SOP, the use of face covers/masks to be made mandatory. Candidates are advised to practice frequent hand washing with soap (for at least 40-60 seconds) even when hands are not visibly dirty. Use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers (for at least 20 seconds) can be made wherever feasible.

Respiratory etiquette to be strictly followed by all. This involves strict practice of covering one’s mouth and nose while coughing/sneezing with a tissue/handkerchief/flexed elbow and disposing off used tissues properly.

Highlights of the revised SOP

1) Physical distancing of at least 6 feet to be followed as far as feasible.

2) Use of face covers/masks to be made mandatory.

3) Practice frequent hand washing with soap (for at least 40-60 seconds) even when hands are not visibly dirty. Use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers (for at least 20 seconds) can be made wherever feasible.

4) Respiratory etiquette to be strictly followed. This involves strict practice of covering one’s mouth and nose while coughing/sneezing with a tissue/handkerchief/flexed elbow and disposing off used tissues properly.

5) Self-monitoring of health by all and reporting any illness at the earliest.

6) Spitting shall be strictly prohibited.

7) Installation & use of Aarogya Setu App shall be advised to all, as far as feasible.
